free public programs in 11 cities in United States. Seattle, San Ramon,
Los Angeles, Albuquerque, Dallas, Coralville, Chicago, New York, Washington
DC, Boston and Toronto. Six retreats were held in Seattle, San Ramon,
Los Angeles, New Mexico, Boston and Toronto.

Amma's first spiritual center was established in Amritapuri,
Kerala on May 6, 1981. Today, satsang groups spread across 33 countries
worldwide including the United States, Canada, Europe, Middle East,

Uplifting
of spirits in Iowa - 3 July 2008 - Coralville, Iowa, USA
The massive rains that recently hit America's Midwest flooded a large
portion of the region's residential, commercial and farmlands. Although
the waters have subsided considerably, the threat of more rain looms
in the minds of many Midwesterners. Furthermore, there is the matter
of the billions of dollars in damages and crop destruction. Iowa City
and its suburbs were not spared, and areas of Coralville, the town where
Amma has given darshan for the past two years, remain underwater.
The terrorist bombing of the Oklahoma City Federal Building on April
19, 1995 took the lives of 168 people and scarred thousands more physically
and emotionally. Despite the massive blast and subsequent fires, a 100-year-old
American Elm Tree, part of the building's original landscaping, survived.
At the insistence of Oklahoma citizens, survivors, family members of
the deceased and rescue workers, the "Survivor Tree" has become
central part of the memorial dedicated to the victims of the blast.
